Welcome to The Realm of Exos. We are a fantasy, play by post wolf roleplay. We offer two different types of roleplay for our users. We are friendly and carry the likeness for roleplaying. Friendly staff will be available to assist you. After a mysterious Moon Flower blooms in the middle of Destiny Forest, all creatures within the area experiences changes to their physique as well as their intellect. Now able to shift from a wild wolf to an Anthropomorphic being at will, you realize you have enhanced senses and the ability to harness magic to your will. You can build, craft and hunt like that of a human being, still keeping most of your wof-like instincts. Gain skills by completing objectives. Each character is able to form their own destiny and have a limitless amount of characters. Choose a faction and join a pack. Don't see one you like? Make one of your own! There are many freedoms here. Will great activity, and your willingness to keep us informed, we will go far in a long journey to discover the secrets Exos may hold.
Registration and Account Management
We have a site application that needs to be filled out in order for you to officially join, but first, we need an account to do that. The first account you join with will be your “Parent” account. You'll learn more about Parent Accounts later, but this account is a requirement and cannot-will not-be bypassed for any reason whatsoever. Once you've registered with this account, you may post your joining form in the "Joining the Community" thread and wait for STAFF to accept it. An example has been done if you need help. Once the application is accepted, you may register your character account. A joining form is not required for all Characters, just the first one; users can have as many characters as they desire with proper activity. Parent Accounts will also serve as a Tag to know what character belongs to which person. It is also important to view the Memberbase Thread to see if your desired character name is available for use.
New to proboards? No problem! You'll create your character account by clicking the far left hand side of the menu selection you see at the bottom right of the forum. This icon will take you to a dashboard where you will click on the "Create new account on this forum" link and it will ask you to type in username and password. You email will stay the same. You will use the same icon to switch from your accounts without having to logout and login. Easy, right?
Character Creation
Now that you have a Parent Account and created your first character account, let's discuss the creation of your character.
Awakened and Unawakened
Awakened wolves are those that have been positively affected by the blooming of the Moon Flower. They wear clothing, hunt using bows, craft useful tools such as swords, hammers and other ideal items. Awakened wolves also have the ability to use magic and bend the four elements, water, earth, fire and air. Awakened forms also have the ability to shift at will to their ancestral four legged firm when communicating with the unawaked species of Exos. Whether you are Anthropomorphic or shift into the natural wolf, your characters design stays the same and adjusts to each form promptly. Awakened wolves have more of a fantasy look, including freedoms for colors, markings, size and weight, etc.
Unawakened are wolves who keep their ancestral forms and cannot communicate with the Awakened unless the Awakened are in their ancestral form as well. Unawakened do not use tools and armor. They would need to rely on strategy and the strength of their own teeth and claws when fighting against an Awakened being. Unawakened have their own language. To an Awakened being in their Anthropomorphic form, it sounds like whining, growling, snarling etc. When an Awakened and an Unawakened are equal, Unawakened beings have a realistic look, which means they keep to the natural size, weight, colors, markings, etc.
The physical form of an Awakened wolf is usually bigger, while the Unawakened stick to their natural size. Awakened wolves may have their size, but Unawakened have their numbers. Unawakened are considered NPCs and can be roleplayed as such if you choose. Unawakened are not to be considered as actual characters, they are simply part of the main atmosphere of Exos, a race which doesn't get affected by the Moon flower.
A set History
When it comes to the history of your character, we have set in place that all characters of TROE are descents of the ancestors who first discovered the Moon Flower. You can be creative with it such as having been born within Zodiac Village, having been adopted by a merchant when lost in Destiny Forest, etc.
Aging a Character
Aging is just as important as digging up the background of your character is. We don't have a set aging use such as Moons or years. You can choose whichever works for you, but do put years in parenthesis is you use something other than years as this is a more commons way to tell a characters age. Characters are aged once a year, or you can buy an hourglass from the store and be sure to update your characters Record of that purchase so we all know what's up. When you create a character and perhaps want it to start at a young age, the youngest you can start at is 8 months. This gives your character some mobility, but still kept at the Nursery till they reach age one. We recommend retirement at age 16 (in dog years).
Death or leave
If you wish to kill off your character, you may do so however you wish. This must be roleplayed that your character has died and the event of their death recorded in the record of that character. Once you have killed them off, you can create a new character if you like. If you wish to bring a character back from the dead, you will need a Revival Stone from the shop to do so. If your character chooses to leave, you can bring them back anytime, no requirements, except their leave and return must be recorded in their records.
Colors, scars and markings
This is where creativity can get super wild. The more unique your character is, the more you'll enjoy playing them because the character is yours. Character colors can range from rainbow colors to the most realistic colors. Characters can have hues and a colored wolf instead of the natural characteristics. We want you to have your freedom, so have at it! Eye colors can be realistic or unrealistic. Scars should be recorded if they happen in the roleplay. Characters can be created with scars from they recent history, but if you plan to add more, this should be noted in the character records so we all know what has changed to your character since you joined. You may view other biographies to get an idea of what we allow, and of course ask.
Mutations, Growths, and Disabilities
Characters can have any sort of mutation as the general background of TROE implies that the flower has made some changes, but you are the one who determines those changes. Growths are accepted to where you could have a six-legged wolf if you wanted to. Disabilities should be balanced to where if your wolf is blind in one eye, they should have the strengths and weaknesses of only having one eye.
Bisexual, Heterosexual, and Homosexual
These are all excepted. Please abide to the fact that if a players character is Heterosexual, don't chase after them unless this is agreed by both parties for some intense character drama in the roleplay. If you don't know what either of the sexual stances, their definition is below!
Heterosexual: Character is only attracted to the opposite sex.
Homosexual: Character is attracted to both opposite and same sex.
Bisexual: Character is attracted to either male or female no matter the characters own gender.
Choosing a Faction and a pack
You will have three factions to choose from: Citizen, Merchant and Origin. You'll be able to read about them in the "Packs and Factions" guide. When you choose your faction, you will also be Abe to choose a pack. The only standing pack at this time is Moonacre. Pack creations are currently closed, but as we gain other members, I'm certain we will have pack creations open for everyone.
Posting a biography
Now that you know what you want for your character, it's time to make the biography itself. To do this, you may use the biography template or you may decorate your topic with one of your own as long as it has the following:
Character name
Age
Gender
Faction
Pack
Personality
Reference/description
History
The topic of your biography can be anything you desire as long as it remains PG rating as thus content is for all ages to refer back to at any time during a roleplay. You will post any other character biographies of characters you own within this topic moving forward; this is yo keep everything organized. An example would be “Larks Creations" which contains biographies for Lark and Arane. We will not move biographies to the “I'm posting my bio" section” if you are creating an additional character. All we ask is that you let us know about the new account so we can update the master list as well as make sure the biography for that character is finished before you roleplay the new character. Once you've made your first character biography in the “I'm making my Bio!” section, staff will review the biography to make sure all of the required fields are filled before accepting it. You'll know if it is accepted when it is moved to the “Come read my bio!” section.
NPC Biographies have a set template and should be posted in the NPC forum only. Titles for those topics must state the NPC name and stature, such as “Blake the Origin Blacksmith". NPC characters will not share topics. Once you've requested an NPC, staff will post their topic along with proper credits. Remember, NPCs do not have their own accounts, we simply roleplay them in addition to our own characters with a minimal reaFlower.
Character Records
The next step to getting settled is posting your characters Record. By record, we mean a timeline as well as list of dates and events that your character has experienced since they have been a part of Exos. This timeline is yours to keep track of is required for each character you own. You can follow the biography method to keep things organized. The main things records must contain include:
Character name
Pack
Faction
Objective history
Open Threads
Completed Threads
Characters Met
Roleplay Interaction History
Entering the Roleplay
Once you've posted your characters Record, it's time to enter the roleplay! How can you enter? Where should you start? You can start however you wish! There are several creative ways to start a roleplay. Keep in mind that we host both public and private roleplay. So you can join an active roleplay topic, or request to roleplay with a member in particular. Of course, asking to roleplay with someone you don't know can be a little awkward. Introduce Yourself beforehand! We love new people! You can also post an advertisement looking for a roleplayed if you wish in the Plot Request topic. The best way to start is to make a topic in the roleplay, or post in an already open topic labeled AW. It's up to you.
And that's our starter guide everyone! If you have any questions, post them in the Lend a Paw section, please. All other information about the ecosystem, Jobs, Beastiary, etc are in or He topics. Be sure to read them as they are important as well! Have fun!
