Lark growled in response to his statement. The wolf hadn't know what power Ashes held and when he barreled into her, the wind left her lungs and Lark lay on her side, dazed as he demanded she take on his own challenge. The female became enraged at the fact that this male though she would go down so easily. The female chuckled. "As you wish", she snarled. Then she twisted and clamped down on the paw closest to her and locked her jaw. She would teach him that even with his own strength, she was smart.
Pain shot through him as she bit into his left paw. The pain sharpened his senses and the familiar bloodlust flowed through him. The smell of blood, even his own, invigorated him. Using his musclebound back legs he pounced on her, planted his right paw on her side, driving her to the ground. With a snap he sank his teeth into her back. Her blood tasted sweet and spicy and instantly reminded him of his sister's scent. Emotions crept at the edges of his mind but were held back by his fire and determination. Anxious, he awaited her next move.

The female let out a yet and released the left paw she had between her jaws as the male jumped on her and bit down right on her back, drawing blood. The female instinctively twisted and moved to a position where he was on his side and his shoulder exposed. Lark snapped her jaws into his right shoulder till she tasted iron. She stood above him now and growled in anger and pain from her back.
As he hit the ground and his breath left him with a puff, Ashes was surprised by Lark's speed. She was standing over him before he knew what had happened. The flurry of motion caused drops of Lark's blood to spray the nearby flowers, a sight Ashes was very familiar with. He was snapped out of him momentary distraction by teeth sinking into his already scarred shoulder. A bark of pain escaped him as electric pulses spread from the wound.
Ashes kicked his hind legs, pushing into Lark's underbelly and sending her airborne. Her teeth were forcibly torn from his shoulder sending his blood splattering to join hers on the flowers. At any time during her flight he could have sank his teeth into her throat or ripped her belly open but Ashes didn't really want to hurt her. He wanted an ally, not a corpse. And he realized that for the first time in a long time, he wanted a friend.
As soon as she landed he moved in a burst of speed. With a quick snap he clamped down on her tail where the base met her back. His teeth were tight enough to put pressure on the skin without tearing it. If she moved the wrong way she would hurt herself. Let's see how smart she is, thought Ashes.

Lark had him, she knew she did. How could she not. She was so sure in fact that she hadn't expected to be flung back by ashes string hind legs and so take a tuft of fur with her. Was he smart or stupid? Whatever he was, the female sighed in her mind as she last in a brief, very brief, daze before she felt teeth on her tail. She froze, eyes narrowed. "Really? My tail?" She was astounded. She couldnt believe his move and it made her laugh historically as she dared not move but the laugh was indeed necessary. "You are a brave warrior " she said though was some struggle when a sharp pang shot through her back. "Let me up." She demanded softly. "We will kill each other if we keep at it." She stared at the sky through the first that stretched to the top. She didn't come here for a fight, but it sure did make her day more interesting.

Laughter bounced off the trees surrounding them. Laughter. This was the last thing that Ashes had expected, and yet somehow it instantly disarmed him. The bright fluttering sounds warmed him in a way he hardly recognized. He unclenched his jaw and sat down on his haunches. A grimace flashed across his face as blood seeped from the wound in his shoulder. Looking down at Lark he said, "You fought well." He bent his neck down and licked her on the cheek before whispering in her ear, "You ready to hunt some Origin scum?" Without waiting for a response he flashed his teeth, his crooked tail began to wag, and he let out an enthusiastic bark, "Let's go!"

Lark looked at the male as he sat down beside her and felt herself blushing at his comment and gently lick to the cheek. The female was surprised at how calm he suddenly became. At the mention of a hunt for origin wolves, lark sat up and rolled over, grimacing at the pain in her back. "You're out of your mind." She said in disbelief as she tried to twist around to examine the wound on her back. She thought it looked right in the middle. So much for a sparring match... the female gazed at the male when he barked at her. "Stop it." She snarled, then softened. "We should see a healer before our wounds get infected." She suggested. Standing, she winced while turning to head back to the village.
"Healers." Ashes scoffed again. "Fine, but if they force their rituals on me again, I won't be responsible for what I do." Ashes fell in stride beside Lark, gingerly testing the his weight on the wounded shoulder. It hurt, but it would get him there. "Besides, I need you healthy for our hunt. You still want to go right?" Ashes looked at Lark longingly, desperate to have someone on his side for once.

Lark smiled at the male as he came to her side. "Indeed we can." She chuckled. "Keep your comments to yourself I were you" then as an afterthought, "Of course, I don't thing Lorraine is that torcherous to her patients." Lark liked The healer. She wondered what she would say to them when she saw their torn up and bleeding forms. They would be in for a treat.
